UNDERSTANDING THE HOUSES (PART-1)

In the series of “ Houses in Vedic astrology ”, we have discussed about the meaning of houses in astrology and their basic classification in groups according to their nature. In this series, we will know more about the houses and the things they represent in a very logical and reasonable manner. Let us, understand the houses by taking an analogy of the image below (fig-1) -: Fig-1: Illustrating houses  In the above image, the numbers from 1 to 12 are the twelve houses of astrology. We can also see some direction names in the image like east, west etc. We all know that Earth rotates in eastward (From West to East) direction and thus it seems as if the celestial bodies like the sun, moon and other stars moving in westward direction (From East to West). This is called as “Apparent movement of Sun or, Moon or, any other celestial bodies”. Zodiac signs are nothing but, the division of space around the earth and therefore, they also have apparent movement like other celesti

Read here -:  Part-1 The Perfect House System After an introduction to so many house systems, an obvious question arises in our mind, i.e., "Which is the most correct house system to use?" Well, the answer for this question is hidden in the experiences of Vedic astrologers regarding various house systems. First of all, among the two broad categories of house systems, most of the Vedic astrologers usually prefer the “Linear house systems” because of some limitations present in the “Non-linear house systems”, such as, They are only extensible to house from ascendant (Lagna) and not fro

HOUSES IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY (PART-1)

Introduction In n astrological chart, houses act like the containers for the planets and zodiac signs. Therefore, the houses are as important as the planets and zodiac signs and form the base of any prediction. In Vedic astrology; just like the zodiac signs (Rashis), each house has a span of 30° and there are 12 houses in total. The ascendant or, rising sign (The zodiac sign that rises from the eastern horizon at the time of birth) plays a vital role in case of determining houses and their span. For example -: If at the time of birth of the native, the zodiac sign “Cancer” is present in the eastern horizon at 7°00’ then, it is become the mid-point of the 1 st house and native is said to have “Cancer” ascendant. In this way, the sign “Leo” takes the mid-point of 2 nd house, “Virgo” takes the mid-point of 3 rd house and so on as shown in the below table (fig-1) -: fig-1 : Houses for Cancer ascendant people Similarly, for “Virgo” ascendant peopl
